Sarava 2020 – White

Beautiful textured white wine from the Vinho Verde, or green wine, region of Portugal. Light aromatic and wildly refreshing. Made from a 100% Loureiro grapes. Some of the wine aged in chestnut barrels, some in stainless steel. A small part in tinajas and demijhons, these are clay and glass vessels a biut similar to amphora’s but with a different effect on the wine due to the materials being less poreus. Therefore less oxygen reaches the wine during the fermentation. The wine is unfiltered nor fined. Small dose of sulfites added before bottling to stabilize.

Saravá is a small project by Miguel, head winemaker for Aphros Wines, and his wife Leli and was founded in 2018. Saravá is an Afro-Brazilian word used as a mantra to invoke the force that moves nature, but is also remains a greeting similar to “Hail!” – Like a wish of good luck.
