MonoCiclo 2020 – Amphora – Red

From the region of Alentejo, Close to Estremoz comes Ciclo Vinhos.  Made from 100% Aragonês and is limited to only 540 bottles in production, so a very limited availability! The grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in open clay Amphora vessels. This is a medium bodied wine with fresh flavours of red fruits, canned strawberry, cinnamon and a linguering aftertaste. The grapes were harvested by hand from a 0,7 hectare plot of unirrigated limestone terroir vineyard located at an altitude of 330m. The grapes are destemmed and then lightly crushed in in 20kg crates to start the fermentation, followed by fermentation in open clay Amphora vessels. An ancient technique developed by Georgians and widely adapted and used in the Roman Empire.
